We offer expertise in pain and symptom management and four levels of care to support patient and family. Medications, equipment, and supplies are all provided for hospice diagnosis. Our hospice care enhances the quality of life and reduces the need for doctors appointments and hospital visits.

Grief teaches us so many things, one of those being that we really have no control over things in this life. It is something that shakes up our entire world and a special person has been pulled out of our grasp, as much as we wanted to hold onto him/her, we couldn’t. There is nothing we can do with grief but experience it. It is often said that we need to have the courage to walk through our grief and not around it. Mourning, the outward expression of our grief is one definite way to get there. We will love our precious loved ones forever, but there is a change in the level of pain & relationship we experience in time. Grief will forever change us, but as difficult as it is to believe in the midst of the intensity of it, it will not destroy us. The despair we feel can change. We learn a tremendous amount of things about ourselves during one of the darkest journeys we will face. This journey should not be one of isolation but of gently allowing those that can handle the intensity of grief to walk with us and beside us. As a Bereavement Coordinator with Hospice of the Sandias walking on this journey with others and the tremendous losses I have faced personally, I believe there can be a tomorrow where the sun will shine again for you.

from 6PM to 7PM
at Wheatfields.

Our Portales support groups meets every
2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month
from 1:30PM to 2:30PM
in the Art Room of the Memorial Building

You are the best.

My Mom was ill for 5 years, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, renal failure, etc. Once we went with hospice care, I felt that all the pressure was off me and I could relax and spend what little time I had left with my mother. Every member of the staff made sure my Mom was taken care of. I can’t put into words how I felt, but it was all good. Thank you for all you did for my Mom and my family.

Thank you for caring for Ethel Saver. I know your knowledgeable staff did everything possible to make her comfortable. One day a Hospice nurse called me to give me an update on Ethel’s condition. After hanging up, I realized I forgot something. I called back and asked the answering nurse to pass along to Ethel, that I loved her. The nurse politely asked me to hang up. When I did she called back on a cell phone and gave the phone to Ethel. I was able to tell her myself.

To all the wonderful care givers at Hospice of the Sandias: We appreciate all the special care and attention you showed Lloyd and his family during those last few days in your facility. You’ll always hold a special place in our heart. God bless you all.
